If we stick to the plan..

and if nothing happens to get in the way, here's what the itinerary will look like. Yeah right..I wrote before we took Cherokee to the vet. This comming Monday, he'll be getting ready for possible knee surgery. Similar to the kind that skiers get. Funny thing is that I thought he had something wrong with his paw or his ankle. It never occured to me it was his knee. He was limping. Avoiding to put his paw on the floor. There's a name coined for that behavior among animals. It's called pain guarding. They keep from using the part of their bodies that will cause pain. They know how to spare the suffering that is involved with pain. Amongst the many great things Cherokee excels at, pain guarding ranks in the top 3.
It's very likely he will be getting a procedure called tibial plateau leveling osteotomy. The vet says the procedure is common with working dogs. Also, that it's no reason for us to change our travel plans. In fact it is good that he should be boarded while under doctors' orders to restricted activity. That means all day in a room going out only for bathroom breaks on a leash and close by. But, doesn't it suck?
